Dr. Ian Soosay

Dr. Ian Soosay is the Deputy Director and Principal Advisor for Mental Health at the Ministry of Health. He trained in medicine at the University of Edinburgh before specialising in psychiatry in Cambridge and London.

Ian moved to New Zealand in 2008 and has worked clinically in a number of services across Auckland as a psychiatrist. He has also held roles as the Clinical Director of Raukura Hauora O Tainui PHO, as a Board member at Lifeline and as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Auckland, and has post-graduate degrees in Social Epidemiology from University College London and Mental Health Policy and Service Development from University Nova Lisbon.

Ian lives in Auckland with his wife and daughter.
