Denise Kingi-‘Ulu’ave is a registered clinical psychologist of Tongan descent and holds a senior manager position at Le Va.
Denise is responsible for providing clinical leadership direction and oversight across Le Va’s programmes, and also leads Le Va’s two national suicide prevention programmes funded by the Ministry of Health:
• FLO: Pasifika for Life which is New Zealand’s first national Pasifika suicide prevention programme
• LifeKeepers – New Zealand’s national suicide prevention training programme
Denise has served the community as Pasifika portfolio manager for funding and planning at MidCentral DHB, Chair of Pasifikology, which is a national network of Pasifika psychologists in NZ, and has provided clinical and cultural advice on numerous projects and advisory groups nationwide. In her career as a clinical psychologist she has worked in NZ prisons, mental health services in NZ and Australia (Adult, Child and Family) and Māori mental health services.
