“Suicide is not inevitable – it is a preventable illness”   |   Ed Coffey, Zero Suicide Pioneer and Neuropsychiatrist

Resources available from this event.

Communities across New Zealand are concerned about mental health services and the high numbers of deaths by suicide. Over recent months, we have been socialising the use of a Zero Suicide methodology within health and care environments as a key action step to lowering deaths by suicide.

The Zero Suicide in Healthcare Practice 2017 Forum is timed to support you to gain a deeper understanding of these factors as Government look to changes in mental health and suicide prevention service provision. We believe that this Forum will provide essential support as you plan for the future of your organisation.

It is a must attend event for any health organisation delivering mental health services or looking to in the future.

Case studies from the United Kingdom, United States, Australia and New Zealand will be presented by those who are driving this work, along with opportunities for detailed questions.  This Forum will also look beyond initial policy change to implementation, key learnings from the field and implications for wider service delivery.

It will also support government agency, local body and DHB staff understand the value of the organisations they contract and better see the complexity of their operating environments.

You are invited to join with other health clinicians, health planners, practitioners, international and New Zealand thought leaders to explore what is happening and how similar organisations are making progress now to lower the numbers of deaths within their communities.

Who should attend

This workshop is for health clinicians, health planners, practitioners and senior managers who are interested in learning more how a Zero Suicide approach could work within a hospital and clinical setting and how to build effective working relationships with those community partners working in the suicide prevention and mental health sector.
